Questions
The things people actually ask. If yours isn't here, email us.
- Is it really free?
- Making an account is, and so is the jobs board, for people looking and for employers posting. Publishing a project is free too, and anyone can read it without an account. No card, no trial clock. Membership ($2.99/month, or $29.99/year paid yearly) adds the weekly challenges and their prizes, the leaderboard and the community feed.
- Do I need any experience?
- Not to join or to read. The weekly challenge assumes you can already build something small, however rough. If you can't yet, reading what other people shipped and how they explain it is a reasonable place to start.
- How does the weekly challenge work?
- A brief goes up with a deadline and a prize. You build it and submit before the deadline: the site enforces that, so late really is late, and then answer a few questions about your own code. A person judges the entries against published criteria; nothing is decided by a draw. The full rules are on the challenge rules page.
- Are the job postings safe?
- Every posting is read by a person before it appears, and suspicious ones are flagged for closer reading: no website, a free-mail company address, an odd salary, an application link on someone else's domain. That is a filter, not a guarantee. No legitimate employer will ever ask you for money, bank details or identity documents to apply. If one does, use the report button; it goes straight to the top of our queue.
- How do I show employers what I've done?
- Your profile is public and carries your challenge entries, what you post in the community, and your LinkedIn if you add one in settings. Placing on the leaderboard is a record of work you shipped to a deadline and then explained, which says more than a certificate does.
- Can I cancel?
- Any time, from Manage billing. You keep access until the period you have paid for ends. Within 3 days of a charge you can have the money back, no reason needed, see the terms.
- Where do my card details go?
- Straight to Stripe, on Stripe's own page. StudiesSprint never receives or stores a card number.
- Can I use one account on two devices?
- Signing in on a new device signs the old one out. It is one account, one active session: deliberate, to keep shared logins from spreading.
- I forgot my password.
- Use the reset link. It emails you a one-time link that expires. Nobody can read your existing password, it is stored only as a one-way hash.
- Who can see my profile?
- Anyone signed in can find you by name or handle and see your posts, level and projects. Projects are readable by anyone with the link, so an employer can see your work without an account. Your email, date of birth and level of education are never shown.
- How do I delete my account?
- Email hello@studiessprint.com from your account address. We action it within 30 days.
